Payroll Clerk

Job Function: 

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for day-to-day functions

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Process personnel changes, including pay changes, status changes, and terminations; additionally, process changes regarding direct deposit accounts, tax withholdings, and addresses
  • Oversee file maintenance for multiple districts within the company
  • Manage garnishments as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Respond to all associate correspondence in a professional, timely, and courteous manner
  • Administer W-2 forms, resolving associate questions and problems as well as reissue W-2 forms when applicable
  • Assist management members with payroll related problems and hours on performance sheets
  • Prepare weekly store counts, and report number of associates paid weekly
  • Assist supervisors with projects and tasks as assigned
  • Enter data into appropriate system in a timely fashion
  • Research payment problems as they arise
  • Conduct administrative responsibilities including opening and sorting mail, filing, and filling in when needed
  • Observe all company rules and policies
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations
  • Perform all other duties and assignments as directed

Qualifications: 

  • Zero to two years of experience in Payroll or comparable field is preferred
  • High degree of organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments by stated deadlines
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs especially during times of high volume and/or stress
