Loss Prevention Associate - FT

The Company

Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position

The Loss Prevention Associate will work with the loss prevention team to ensure safety and minimize losses at the retail level. They will assist stores in minimizing loss through monitoring compliance with all policies and procedures. The associate will utilize CCTV to review potential issues and observe current situations for potential loss problems. Additionally, the associate will approach shoplifters to deter or apprehend per company policies and procedures and assist in recovery of company assets. The Loss Prevention Associate will have other security-related duties, as directed. This position is an hourly full-time position and comes with full benefits and a varied work schedule that will include nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, has strong communication and customer service skills, as well as the ability to make fast decisions during stressful situations. An associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Loss Prevention, Law Enforcement, Military, or Retail Store Management, is required. The associate must present oneself in a professional manner in both attitude and appearance, pass a substance abuse screening, background check, have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and must have a valid NC driver’s license. This position requires travel between retail locations in the Asheville, NC area, reliable transportation is necessary.
